I have a chance to purchase a newer ruger blackhawk in 357. Its blued with a 6 inch barrel for 325.00. Deal or no deal. I have been wanting a 357 for awhile should I get this one?

Depends on the condition if it's "like new" I would say yes around here its hard to find anything below 500. It all depends on how bad you want it look at some of the online dealers for new prices and make your best judgment based on condition.

I never thought I would like a single action revolver.................till I got my hands on one! Like it very much. Diff caliber, though

Unless it is really abused, that is a bargain price.

Buy it. It's a great caliber in a great revolver

Great price for a good gun. I have had several in .357 and prefer the 4 5/8 inch barrel for packing around but the 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 are inherently more accurate with the longer sight radius. You can't get hurt for that price.

That is a really good price as long as the finish and such looks good.

If you don't want it for that price, I'll take it in a heartbeat if it hasn't been stored under the seat of a boat or something........

ended up passing it by. Lots of rust and pitting. To bad. Looks like the search goes on. Thanks for everyone's help.

So it was stored under the seat of the boat, then.... What a shame!

A good one will turn up eventually. It will give you time to save up a few more nickels waiting for the right one.

interesting thread. I do have a early 70ish 357 6and 1/2 inch barrel that comes from a local ranchers personal carry(around the farm). Was bought from his widow. It has some holster wear and a nick on the ejecter rod housing.I was just thinking of offering it to bil for 300., I thought that would be a deal as I don't need it. Maybe I am wrong but it really is in nice shape.

I was talking to a co worker and about the blackhawk and he offered me a a 6 inch blued 357 for 275.00. I took the deal. the blueing is a little worn but otherwise seems in decent shape. Think I am going to send it to Ruger to be refurbished. Thanks to everyone.

Definitely a good deal there. The rugers used to be $250 guns now prices are pushing $500. My, how times change.

If it's stainless then your golden. If it's blued, check to see if the grip frame is aluminum (or whatever they used instead of steel). Alloy frame isn't bad, but you want to know in case you want to be modifying it in the future. Also you might take along a .357 boolit and see what the cylinder throats are like. Drop the boolit into the chamber and see how bad it sticks up.

I thought all post-63 Blackhawks sported aluminum grip frames, though I can't speak to the recent flattops.

I paid $85 for my three screw convertible back in 1974. The 9mm cylinder has never been fired. It ruined me for the new models:-)

The current stainless blackhawks have steel grip frames. Not sure if this has always been the case or not.

Some of the blued models also have steel grip frames, 44spl, for example.
