FIL passed away

Wifes' father passed away late this morning. He was a vet. Marines. Served in a little place most of you, having studied your history, have heard of.
Chosin reservoir. Yes, he was one of the Few. He won't be at the reunion this year......

His sacrifices, and that of many others like him, have made it possible for us to be here today, and P and whine and moan about how cold this winter has been......

I have met a handful of Chosin Reservoir vets over the years and it was always a priviledge and an honor. Most were suprised to meet someone who knows a little about what they went through.

For those who don't have a clue what we are talking about, I would recommend the following book: Chosin Heroic Ordeal of the Korean War by Eric Hammel. It is written in a style that provides personal glimpses into the hardships they faced and a broader view of strategy.

They sure did!

When I was in the Army in the 60s there were a few of the Korean guys left in that made careers of it. The stories they told me of the weather alone was beyond most peoples imagination. Prayers to the family- RIP to your FIL
