I have a bunch of sizer dies that are mostly small for what you need for that calibre.

Example
224
257
308
355
427
457
...
So I'm gonna toss these and others in the heat treat oven and anneal them. Bore them out polish and, Trash to Treasure. An exercise in using the tools for me. I have a few target diameters but any other ideas.

I made a cast of my 40 cal pistol and it seems that the grooves are 0.403". That explains the leading from the commercial 401 cast bullets I have been using. I have some some samples on the way from another member in 4015 and 4025 to try. I don't know how big I can go and not have problems with chambering or fit in the brass. I have not yet bought a sizing die for my RCBS LAM I in 40 cal, and I don't have a mold in 40 yet.

"Buckshot" makes dies in any size you want. Unless you're looking for a project he'd be my choice.

I only have a few RCBS dies. I have a bunch of Lyman H&I dies. In general and for the most part, the Lyman dies range from +0.0005 to .001 oversize. Not a problem for the most part. But if I could have one die, dead nutz on the number, it would be the RCBS die style (one row of injectors) at .451.

The .427" sizing die is for .44-40, and is the proper size for most of the rifles in that caliber I've seen.

Hope this helps.
