I just picked up a Lyman 311576 mould for my M1 Carbine...which I understand is a good mould. I'm using IMR4227 @ 13.5 grns to load Xtreme 110 plated bullets. I THINK the CB's from the Lyman are 115 grns. Any recommendations on how many grains of IMR4227 to use with the Lyman CB's? I'm looking for ACCURACY above all, with low recoil a close second. BTW, I can cover a 3 round group with my thumb nail @ 25 yds with the load I'm using now with the IMR/Xtreme rounds. Thanks, guys...

You may have case capacity issues with IMR4227 under the 311576 in the 30 Carbine. The Mould I had dropped them at 120 gr with old COWWs (many years back) fully dressed. I found 12.5 gr H4227 to be a good load at 100% load density when the case mouth covered both lube grooves. Suggest you start at 11.5 gr IMR4227 and work up to 100% load density (psi will not exceed max) with your 311576 and let your M1 Carbine tell you what is the accuracy load.

My cast boolits for the M1 Carbine, while supposedly a 120gr boolit, come out at 105gr because I cast them with a hard alloy. My load is and has always been 12.5gr of 2400.
