I need a load for the 124gr bullet using winchester 231 powder only. ANY help finding a 231 load would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Any of the posted data for 124gr or 125gr should work just fine. Hodgdon powder data sight will supply the data as they now make Winchester powders for them.

4.2-4.3 grains works fine for me with either 115 gr. or 124 gr. LRN.

I've used 4.6 with jacketed 124/125 grain bullets for tens of thousands of rounds. With cast 124/125s, I'd try 4.0-4.4 and see what I get. Also remember that HP-38 and WW-231 are the same powder in all respects except the label on the can.

4.0 grs work well in all my 9's using the Lee 124

+1 on 4.0 grains with the lee 124 rn. I've shot many of them, from quite a few different pistols.

I've shot them down to 3.2 for kids loads and they still eject from my EAA with a reduced power recoil spring. My Lee Load Master is set up for 4.2 which is my standard 9MM load for 124 grain PCed boolits used in all of my other 9mm's.

Lee reloading manual... As a new caster I understand my opinion does not count for much, as a navy nuclear operator I also understand the value of printed data. Also I would consider 124 and 125 grain boolits the same more or less.

Don't have a Lee reloading manual just an old Lymans #46 with no desire to purchase 4 or 5 new manuals. I just wanted a load that wasn't listed in my 30+ year old manual?

Your opinion counts just as much as any other person replying to a thread in my humble opinion. Hang in there. As a newer member there is a tendency for some of the older members to pick on you.

I fired thousands of 124 - 125 grain hardcast bullets with 4.5 grains WW231 from a Glock 19 for a little over 1,000 fps. It's what I used for a 9mm minor load in IPSC.

@dougader--are you shooting that load thru a stock barrel? I recently acquired a 17L that I have been thinking of loading up for cast?

I did shoot it through a stock G19 barrel, way before anyone ever said it was a problem. I never seemed to have any leading issues, either, whether using hardcast from a local supplier or using my own WCWW and ACWW with the Lee TL bullet:

The only thing that seemed to build up was the Lee liquid alox, but that scrubs up easy with Hoppes No. 9. The Alox is very smokey, too...

Not to hijack this thread but this is the exact combo I'm looking to load. Assuming sizing is correct (.356-.357 in a .355 bore) what alloy BHN would you use for a load such as this?

4.3 works in my Ruger P-95 also my PC9

cloudwraith.
I started with ww's and some soft [3-1] but ended up going a tick harder with the alloy.
3.8 grs of 231 shoots to my fixed sights at 25 yds.
changing to the slightly harder alloy kept bringing the groups tighter and tighter, I finally ended up at 8.5 pounds of clip on ww's and 1 pound of lino-type.
I also size to 358 which works in all of my 9's.
