I want to put a set of grips on my S&W 45DA and need to remove the swivel on the bottom of the grip. I tried drifting the small pin out and it doesn't budge.

Any ideas on how it's supposed to be removed.

You drift out the pin on the bottom side of the frame. Soak the pin in Kroil and let it sit over night. Get a proper fitting punch and whack it. It will come out. I suspect you have some rust in there. The pin is not tapered so it does not matter which side you push from.

Had the same problem on my 1937 Brazilian.Kroil and a good fitting punch. The old girl now wears a set of S&W smooth N frame grips. The repro grips were too small for my hand. Frank

Gonna make me a proper size punch and use a 26 oz brass hammer after it soaks for a day or so in CRC "Knocker Loose".

Well, I finally was able to drive the pin out and suprisingly, it was not rusted. There was a coating of what looked like hard dried oil. Now I can install my grips.

Glad it came out for you. Enjoy your pistol.
