What molds are you guys using for your TC 223 barrels with the 1 in 12 twist? I am looking at the NOE 55 grain flat nose. (rcbs copy) Looks way longer than my ranchdog 22 boolit. I am wondering how it will stabilize, anyone try this combo?

thanks ,Shaune

I have the 225415 Lyman. The book says 45 grains, mine actually weigh 50 as cast! About 55 when ready to shoot. I have had some success with this bullet, but I shoot an awful lot of jacketed in several .223 guns I own. I shoot cast .22's most in a TC Contender 12" at groundhogs at relatively close range.Under 150 yards and barn yard close. I can NOT think of any reason that bullet would not work in your gun. Correct alloy and load will work

You will have no trouble with that bullet, the NOE copy of the SAECO #221 60 grain will work with a 1-12" twist.

I use the RCBS 22-055-SP in my 14" Contender with superb accuracy. 1/2-3/4" at 50 yds and right around 1 to 1-1/4" at 100 yds. It has to be stabilizing properly!

Shooter if you don't mind me asking what powder are you using under those bullets?

Lots of different powders, ranging from Titegroup(3.5gr) on up to SR4759 and 5744(11gr). Iv'e used Unique, Red Dot, 2400 also. I never really got any bad groups with this boolit. My Contender loves the RCBS 22-055-SP.

Thanks Shooter. I've tried that bullet with most powders but have not tried Titegroup or 5744. Got um both on hand so if the weather ever warms up I'll try those also.

In my Contender and Browning Medalist in .223, I like 12 grains RL#7. Have also used 5.7 grains Accurate #5. 12 grains 4198 works fine with the 415 bullet.dd
