Anyone ever bought one of these: LEE Custom 6-Cavity Bullet Mold 311041 Style 3

saw this on e-bay LEE Custom 6-Cavity Bullet Mold 311041 Style 30 Caliber Gas Check 30-06 30-30
they are $79. Looks like a very tempting thing. Just getting a 30-30 and thinking about the 311041 or Noe's 165 RD mould or Lee 170fn. Then I see this, wow. I wonder if anyone has had any experience with this?

I got one of the 311041 copy plain base version molds that that seller was selling. I have not cast with it yet but the idea of getting 6 at a time lights my fire. There is also a 312-155 pointed 6 cavity mold he is selling. I think they are "custom" molds that the seller had made.

Banging out 6 at a time peeks my interest if they are good boolits and not 5 grains off. Thanks for the input. Give a report when you cast with it frKelly, I'd be interested in hearing about how they turned out.

Here are some that I cast up today. they weigh about 183/184 gr in my alloy and are nice and fat, About .313 at the base and .302 in front of the bands. I am happy so far.

Those look nice. I have a vey old but pristine Lyman 31141 GC single cavity which casts a boolit with a .299 nose section and has a somewhat wider flat. They paper patch well and those PB examples look like they would, too. And, as Kungfustyle notes, six at a time beats one-by-one any day of the week.

Frkelly74, what's the diameter of the bore riding nose on the ones in the photo?

For me having stuck boolits in the bore with a .302 nose section, ( the bore rider ) something that measures .298-299 in the nose section is much more attractive. Someone using a Marlin with microgrove might get away with it though. Minor dia. of a Winchester 94 is .300.

I bought both the PB and GC molds from the seller on fleabay and am very happy with the boolits. I have tested both boolit types using a Marlin 30-30 and they perform about the same as the RD 165gn out to 100yrds. More testing to follow this summer as working in the South Texas produce business during this time of year allows very little free time.

By the way I just noticed that the 312-155-2r 6 hole mold that was $59.95 is now $53.95 buy it now. Then there is $9.95 shipping and handling. This is not me and I have no connection to the auction or seller.


my measurement of the bore riding part of the boolit that I have cast is .302" as I said. Nice and fat!

they do have some taper and get down to .300 a little way up the bore ride section. I think it will be a winner.

How's the uniformity of the boolits with the mould? From your avatar frkelly74 looks like you have a collection of moulds.

cavity to cavity uniformity seems very good. I plan to shoot some of them today from my 30-30 handi and will report.

here are some results. There is a 30 shot group with an elevation adjustment in the middle of it somewhere on one of the targets and also a 7 shot group. They were shot with the 311041 plain base boolit over 6.4 gr of Accurate#5 in scratch and dent brass that I bought with miscellaneous primers already in them. The other target is 10 shots with the lee 230-5r boolit also over 6.4 gr accurate#5 powder. Distance fired at was about 50 feet, kneeling position slipping around in the snow. These were not as mild as I was expecting but no sonic crack was observed.
