Was re-reading a chapter of MV's book on leverguns and noticed that his research indicated that the 32 WCF was designed for the SP primer, not the SR primer. I'm loading for a couple of revolvers and a rifle so decided to err on the side of caution and load with SR primers to avoid a possible pierced primer, Lyman specifies a SR primer, Speer says use SP for pistols, SR for rifles. Also noticed at least a few of my manuals ignore the 32 WCF altogether.
Mike's not a big fan of the 32 WCF but I think I'll do it his way, seems I have more SP primers anyway.

In .32/20, .38/40 and .44/40 I've found that standard pistol primers are the way to go for cast bullet loads in my rifles. They fit modern cases better and ignite the charges fast to medium burning powder I use very well. Use older Lyman data for these cartridges with care. Some of the loads listed for rifles are very stout, too stout for old rifles like 1892 Winchesters.
