I stumbled onto this video yesterday. I always suspected that the 7mm caliber might be a good long range air gun caliber. Even back when I owned the SamYang 45 caliber I thought of sizing down the barrel to either .308 or 7mm.

This just proves that I wasn't to far off base with my assumption. He never mentioned what kind of shot count he got from that Corsair platform. If it's a hunting gun I could live with just five full power shots before topping off the tank again.

I'm wondering what type of metals they used in fabricating any new parts. It's most likely just 1018 steel but I'd like to be sure so that any fabricating I might do in the future would hold up to the high air pressures that might be encountered.

I love this kind of stuff.

.308 builds are nothing new, and I've seen a reports on .25, and .270 before........though 7mm I can't recall. .308caliber being so much more traditional when it comes to cast boolits, naturally came first. Only a matter of time before 7mm was used, as long distance shooting (aside from velocity) is all about ballistic co-efficient. The only caliber with better BC boolits than a 7mm on average would be a .264 I think? Last I checked, the 7mm still had the highest BC boolit, though.

I'm sure he will get to the shot count question on this 7mm on a video soon.......look back at his videos on this rifle when it was a .308 and it should get you in the ball park. I think it would make for a neat calling rifle for more open ranch/farm properties. Looking forward to seeing him down a coyote with it......perhaps using a well-designed hollowpoint! I know it's coming.......
