I have read what I could find on this forum and the web. Watched a lot of videos. Do any of you own the Giraud Case Annealer? For those who own it or have seen it run in person what do you think? Would want it to run small batches of 22-250 300 Blackout and 223. Seems like a fair deal at $450.

very nice machine...wish I had the cash. To each his own but if you are doing small batches wouldn't it be easier/more cost effective to use the socket or Templac method? The socket method works well for me

I'm with dryball on this, few here or there I would have issues with justifying the expense. I don't own the Giraud annealer I got the Ken Light annealer. That annealer utilizes a dual flame annealing system and with the aluminum wheel and water it quickly displaces heat from the base of the case.

I use mine a lot in a month for various cases, so it was justifiable to spend the coin on an annealer.

It's a little slower than a two torch annealer but it does feed cases automatically, at least once you stack them in order into the hopper. You also have to buy conversions for different size cases.

If your doing a lot of cases, yes its worth it, You stack them and walk away to do some other tedious reloading task like sizing or trimming. There is a guy who shoots a lot of F class in our club who bought one to save his expensive brass for some oddball caliber he shoots and anneals every 3-4 reloads. He has since started annealing peoples brass for them for a small fee which has paid for his machine.
If your just doing it to case form and only doing it once, then no, just head it up in a torch while spinning it in your bare fingers then throw it in a bucket of water. If you feel the heat in your fingertips your leaving it in the flame to long.

I would be doing a bunch of 30-30 to 25-35 and 308 to 22-250 so for me it may never pay for itself but that has never worried me. Sure would look cool on the bench and I am gonna buy one sooner or latter just trying to find the right one.

There have been many folks that have built one using the "blades" I sell, a few have even set up automatic case feeders too. Once you have it put together you can anneal .22 hornet up to 50 BMG by simply adjusting the torch arms.

Look in the annealing sticky in this forum, if you are a DIY guy you can save a few hundred bucks pretty easy.

+1
I built mine using a jmorris 'saw blade.' Works great and my splitting brass has dropped to zero (did have a few at the beginning but they're gone now).
And I understand the cool factor in having one and all you need is to get it out and use it without having to send brass off or whatever

I have the Giraud annealer. I have put as many as 250 223s at a time in the hopper. The machine works great.I find it easy to set up the machine. The time the brass is in the flame is infinetly adjustable. I offer annealing if anybody needs.

I have the Giraud trimmer. It is awesome. I do not have a Giraud annealer. I would expect it to be outstanding. I purchased a Bench Source before Doug came out with his. I have been very happy with the Bench Source. I did adapt it so I can use my Dillon case feed. I could be very happy with either one.
