I bought this mold today from a friend; I've heard of button nosed bullet molds, never had one.

This one is a single cavity, Ideal 452389, in pristine condition. I do know that it is supposed to drop at ~185 grains.

Anyone else have one of these? Any experience with them?

Got that in a two and four cavity version. I load then in 45 Colt and 45 ACP in convertible BH. Mostly 45 Colt.

I have used Unique, BE, Red and Green Dot but I really like 18 to 20 gr 4227 in the Colt with a med.-heavy crimp over the shoulder of the boolit.
Loaded rounds and 50 ft offhand results are my avatar.

Felix recommended 700-X with a taper-crimp on the first driving band, but I'm yet to shoot the batch I loaded. Sigh.... Gots to gets to the range soon!

Needless to say, I LOVE that boolit and believe it will become one you'll enjoy too!

HiVelocity;
The only thing wrong with that bullet mould for revolver use is that it is a single cavity. :mrgreen:

Thank you gentlemen, I can't wait to cast up a bunch.
I would like to work up a load with Titegroup, or RedDot ~950ish. Looks like I'll be busy this weekend, I hope.

Mine casts crazy large--like .456-.457--not that I'm complaining. I've used it as a plinker in 45/70 shells for my Marlin CB. It has also found use in my 45 colt loads.

That looks like a great candidate for powdercoating! :-D

HV, in 45 Colt, I used 6.0 to 7.8 gr Red Dot with good results. These were pretty mild loads, but fun and accurate. I kinda split the difference between data for 165 to 200 gr boolits listed in Lyman's CB Manual. I supposed 5.0 gr would be a tad too light, so I threw in some judicious guesstimation, which worked pretty well. Ha ha! Hope that helps?

I used a 4 cav years ago when shooting Bullseye pistol. It was my 25 yd timed and rapid fire bullet over 3.7/BE and 10 shots would go into an inch at 25 yds. It did not hold up as well to 50 yds( about 3+") and I used 452460 for the slow fire stage. It is a very good design and as someone previously said the only downside is the SC.
