I have a custom rifle in a 6mm Rem Ackley in 14 twist ,anyone have a good mold/bullet recommendation for this or maybe even some specific loads that you have had success with, and maybe some thoughts on this particular round.
Sounds like a sweet rifle. Sorry I can't offer any advice.

Nothing to offer by way of experience other than with bullets but in that experience its going to need a fairly short boolit. I doubt the 100gn RCBS will work well. Something shorter than that would be my guess for good accuracy.

well.
if I were doing this project I'd do an impact slug of the throat. [actually two or three]
send one of them off to veral, and wait patiently for the mold to come back.
once it got here I'd target some loads in the 23-2400 fps area using a fairly slow powder and a filler [maybe a buffer too] and go from there.

Would Retumbo be a slow enough powder? What about Ramshot magnum?

thanks guys i shoot the 58 grn v max in this rifle at a little over 4000, was wanting to try some more realistic boolits in it since it has a slow twist and see what happens, i will slug it and see what the throat / leade looks like and go from there. I will have to get a rod a little closer to bore size first though. This rifle has a 27" douglas xx air gauged chrome moly barrel that's probably got about 300 rounds through it , but it shoots j words in the .500 neighborhood. Should have lots of boolit life left in her.

R 19 ,imr 4350, h4831 is going to be about my slowest powders on hand. Also have some win 760, h 414,h 4895, h 380 which is what this rifle likes j words with, varget and imr4064

I'd be looking real hard for a Lyman 245496 mould. Go with a Lyman #2 alloy or linotype +20% Pb and WQ the bullets. Size as cast, make sure the GC was firmly and squarely seated and lube with a good soft NRA 50/50 lube or 2500+. I'd test with the 4895, RL19, 4350 and H4831 starting at around 25 gr with any of them, use a dacron filler for less than 80% load density and work up. You should get 2400 - 2600 fps with very good accuracy.
