What I really wanted to see was a Blackhawk or a Bisley 5 shot in this caliber.

Where did you learn of this? I can't seem to get on the Ruger site.

I wonder if the 5 shot SRH could be SAFELY opened up to take the 475 case and pressures ?

a very reliable source. John i havent got a clue but if ruger was smart theyd probably keep the cylinder short enough to prevent it. The 475 at full power puts a strain on everything mechanical in a handgun and i doubt if an out of the box ruger is going to be as precisely fitted as a custom.

I wonder if they can/will retrofit the 6-shot cylinder models.

I really haven't had any problems with mine after the initial break-in period. The chambers were a little rough and new cases a little soft. After a few 100 rounds and a couple resizings of the brass, cases fall right out. I have to compress the hell out of WW296 with most cast bullets to even get a hint of sticky extraction or flattened primers. Not that I run them that hot normally. I just had to find the ceiling.

That is good news,If it is the standard SRH and not the funny grey SRH, I might buy 1.

Value of your six-shot .480 will skyrocket regardless how much you shoot it. And brass will remain easily available.

I strongly believe migrating to five-shot .480s is to ease production quality requirements rather than anything to do with safety or usability.

Ruger has always manufactured products that have more tolerance and excessive metal mass. I suspect this has to do with investment casting production as Ruger does it. And the six-shot SRHs, using CC465 and 15-5 Series 7000 required additional production time that the profit margin could not accommodate.

I was wondering if someone blew one up?Been surfing for articles and can't find any, so it may be a production thing.

I read a test report in a gun magazine. They got sticky extraction with Hornady factory loads. The 480 is a good caliber.I hope they get back on track with it.A five shot SRH is a tough gun to beat for a production gun.
