So here are a sample of 3 boolits I PC'ed these have 2 coats of tumble harbor freight red. It seems to be a tad thick but this is also on 3x zoom. I cleaned these with acetone then after they were dry coated them once, baked then coated again.

Finding how to do this in these threads is easy but also hard as there are so many ways to do this. My goal here is to push a boolit to regular rifle velocities but not have the temperature varience that lubes provide.

Any tips for a smoother coat?

Not by tumbling.... those look about as good as I've seen. (but usually it's not a nice 3X picture, either)
Nice job! Have you sized em yet? It might slick em up just a bit more and make them uniform along the length.
Welcome to PC! :-D

As far as the heavier coat... some of the guys are tapping them a bit between coats with whatever they are using to transfer them from powder to tray (tweezers, pliers, powdered fingers, etc), to get a thinner coat each time. 'Might help get yours a little thinner.

I have not done anything to em, those were still warm when I took the picture, I will tap em on the second coat because that is when they ran the worst.

I put these on parchment paper to bake and not foil, no need for non stick foil (freakin expensive) I did tumble these while warm for the second coat, not sure if that made any issues either.

Is there any pictures of a pre baked boolit? I would like to compare the difference between them and mine!

You try to size or load any of those yet? That thick coating may give you trouble on the bore rider design. Sizing only reduces the drive band size. Parchment paper works fine. I'd try for a better coating on the first tumble. The bottom dive band has a pretty good fillet that may give accuracy problems if no GC.

The barrel will smooth out anything rough spots. size, load and shoot them

I am going to load these without a check, I sized one to .310 with zero issues, If I cant get this to shoot well or get cosistant results I will be getting a harbor freight es gun

Get the gun.
Make the purty boolits.
Put GC's on em. (I can hook you up with an ol' boy who makes em, cheap!)

How do you keep the bases clean?

For a smoother coat, dump the coated (but not cooked) boolits into a wire basket (that you'll cook them in). Swirl the coated boolits around in the basket for a few seconds to knock off any excess powder.
