Well, I pulled the trigger today. Mailed off my paperwork for a Garand. I also ordered 25 enblocs for $20:-D. The traditionalists here will be gratified that I'm going to leave it as is (for now) in .30-06, rather than converting it to .308. I now have more -06 brass than .308 and I may as well give it a try. I will be shooting primarily cast with a Lee 200g RN on top of WC867 , IMR (and H) 4895, and IMR 3031, but I may try some 170FN from the mold I got for my .30-30. Any other suggestions? I will be shooting between 100 and 200 yards normally. I guess I'm going to need some gas checks. Where did I put those GC maker plans?

Whenever it gets here, I will post pictures, but for now, I've got to get busy casting. I've only got 4 - 6 months to make up 200 rounds, and I'm still using a 5lb pot with RCBS ladle.

Go to the CMP site and check the forums (under communication); you'll find cast lead load advice there.

Great! I think that you'll really have fun with your M1 when it comes in. Just used mine in a CMP rifle match last Saturday.

Do a search right here at Cast Boolits for "BobS load" .... Bob used this load successfully in competition, and many of us find it to be highly-workable and accurate in our Garands. It may even be a "sticky" on the 'CBLoads/ Military Rifles" forum.

The Garand works very well with cast loads. Don't let ******* comments from the unknowing discourage you before you start.

P,S. I I don't see a sticky, but a search for the BoBS Load does bring up a lot of hits. Take a look.
