Soo I was on the hunt for some rifle powder this weekend and happened upon a pound of lever evo. Bringing it home I was excited to start workin up some loads, but with a quick look in the Lyman and Modern Reloading 2nd I found nothing for load data.

Heading online a couple evenings after work also left me with next to nothing. Was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction for 165gr. hardcast non gascheck. Im not looking to shoot the sack off a fly, I just want to be in the safe for now. ~Capn~:coffeecom

Capnjack98, I think you're on the wrong end of the spectrum. Lever is a really slow powder meant to make screaming 30/30 loads like getting close to 308 numbers with jacketed. Shooting non GC boolits with it.... probably not going to work well. Lever is more like 4831, only a flattened ball shape and higher density.

Have to agree with the above. 35 grs LE and the 160 gr Hornady FTX is a great flat shooting combo that makes 30-30 a reliable 200 yard round. As I understand, LE is a progressive burn powder and probably not very well suited to non-GC cast. If you could size down to @ .304/.303" and paper patch out to .312", it may be quite effective.

For cast, I like 3031 and 4198.

Works fine @ 30 gr under a 165-180 gr boolit. You will like it.

+1 on Larry's fine work on this powder. With his setup, he can produce really great info and
is an excellent experimenter and reporter. Go to the link in post 4, read and learn.
