Well, I removed the base from my old 10 lb Lee pot in order to reverse it, then I got to thinking. Could I mount the rear column (the rectangular box with the temp knob on it) directly to the inside of my casting cabinet? The walls of the cabinet are made of wood, but as I recall only the pot gets hot.

If you recall from an earlier post, I want to mount the old 10 lb pot over my current 20 lb pot in order to pre melt reclaimed sprues, fresh ingots, etc.

..............The housing gets hot due to it's proximity to the 10 or 20 lbs of molten lead, and the elements coming out of it.

And the "thermostat", such as it is, is designed to cycle based on the expected heat in that aluminum column. You'd have to reinvent the wheel if you moved it.
