I have a brass mp mold and it has casting lead stuck on some corners. Is there an easy way to remove this? thanks for the help...

I usually use a sharp razor blade on my brass and aluminum molds to "shave" the offending lead smears off. Be careful as to not dig into the mold metal, just skim off the lead.

Heat on a hot plate then when it is up to temp, wipe it off with a small piece of folded paper towel.

Mercury is the best way but like most worthwhile things it's dangerous and illegal.

When it's up to casting temperature, OOOO steel wool. Bamboo meat skewer, for hard to reach places.

If you gently heat the mold above the melt point of the alloy it will wipe off with cotton. I use 6" cotton swabs with beeswax or sprue lube. Wood tools like tooth picks work for tough spots like vent lines. No sudden temperature changes and the mold will be fine.

Mold damage is cumulative so I use tools softer than the brass.

Oxidation of the brass (patina) Really helps the mold run cleaner and makes cleanup much easier but I still get small deposits inside the cavity that need to be cleaned every 2-4,000 boolits. So I don't have it all worked out but I'm getting outstanding accuracy and I think the quality of the molds have a lot to do with it.

I like to heat the mold up on the hot plate and then carefully use a Popsicle stick that i have cut in several different shapes. Be very careful not to burn yourself. It takes a while, but the 'patina' will come and when it does, the mold will start working as it was designed. The boolits will start falling out on their own too.

Finally! A use for those CFLs.

When the mould is up to temp, a quick wipe with a paper towel or non synthetic cloth.
