Hi all. I am in need of a mainspring for a 1841 Mississippi rifle. Any one know where I might find a replacement? Even a reproduction would be fine. I tried Dixie and they have none. Any other suppliers around? Best regards, the toolman.

If the Rifle Shoppe has them in stock- that seems like a very reasonable price!

S&S is another source, but the price is about double. :(

Lodgewood also has repros for the original. But not cheap.

If you call one of the suppliers make sure to ask if what they have fits your rifle. There may me some differences between original and some reproduction rifles.

What you would get from the rifle shoppe would not be ready to use as received. It would need to be tempered and fit. Be prepared to wait if they do not have them cast up and in stock. I once waited 4 and a half years for a rear sight assembly for an 1776 British contract rifle. All that being said - Many times when you need something for an original, They are the go to source for items just not found anywhere else.

The Gator Den may have them. They sell parts. Find them on the sutler/vendor listing of the N-SSA.0rg web site

Lodgewood and Gator Den should have high end American made reproduction, that fit original rifles. Worth the money.
