Great score! Many dentists are looking for ways to get rid of the lead foils. I have melted down a few pounds of it. Make sure you sort out all of the paper and card that sometimes sneak into the pot. They give off very nasty fumes.

I discovered "dental film" lead many years ago, but alas, as others have pointed out, because of the digital technology, it's going the way of wheel weights---GONE!

Mines new one is all digital. My old one used up all of my insurance and then pulled the wrong tooth.

Mine has been digital for the last 10+ years. He has a cnc setup to make caps or crowns (not sure the correct term) on site.

I enjoyed the dentist lead for a number of years. May be gone now but they can't take back what they already gave me

Most modern dentist offices have gone all digital....most EVERYWHERE......due to EPA and lower costs and power emitted by digital xrays. Safer all around for all involved in the industry.

Good luck if you still have a 1980's dentist!

Fear not Carestream is still producing Dental X-ray packets. Their orders are way down but still in business. Keep looking!

My county health dept is my biggest source of dental foils, after they've been to the scrapyard first. They love that free donated equipment.

I asked my dentist about this last week (after I read this thread).
She said they just throw them away (and have for years!)
Well now, there is a little box with my name on it getting filled with lead strips! Woo-Hoo!
Thanks guys for all the info that led me to ask the right questions!
