I was browsing through my molds today and found a custom mold ( name of the individual that made this mold is unknown ) single cav. 41 Mag. 180 gr. wadcutter mold that was cut in a Lyman single cav. block.

I cast some with it for a friend of mine ( He has a 41 Mag, I don't ! ).

I'm anxious to see how these do in his 41 Mag. revolvers. I'm thinking about 4.0 - 4.5 grs. of Bullseye with the 180 gr. Wadcutter in the 41 Mag. case ? ?

These have been sized , lubed with Ben's Red and rolled in 45-45-10.

Is that a bore ride wad cutter?

Interesting. Let us know how they shoot for your friend. Never have seen a design quite like that.

Me either.

I'll slide one into the bore of his revolver and we'll see if the nose is a snug fit ?

Looks like you almost need to crimp above the band above the grease groove. Seeking it deep like a normal wad cutter appears to mean the nose isn't very snug in the case.

Weird mould Ben. Very weird. I am interested to see what it does on paper. Someone obviously thought it was a good idea.

Yes, someone went to a lot of trouble.
I've got an old saying...." Let's head to the range with this one, It either WILL or it WON'T."

Does the 4.0 - 4.5 grs. of B'Eye seem like a logical starting spot to you in 41 Mag. cases ?

Sounds like a good start point to me.

I am seeing the exact same crimp location you are. I think seating the bullet any deeper would leave the nose of the bullet poorly supported by the case. It looks to me like the nose is designed to fit into the cylinder throats.

I bet that one will but I have been wrong before.

WOW....You have this one figured out 101%.
My exact thoughts. The area in front of the crimp will slide up into the cylinder throats.

May shoot, I don't know yet ? ? ?
I have about 90 ea. ready to load.

I guess we'll see ?

The target always gets final say

I tell my reloading friends to stand still and look close at the target...." It is talking to you, are you listening ? "

My old Granddaddy always said...." Boy, that paper don't lie."

I've got an old single cavity mould that is a Lee 410-200-WC. I used it some quite a few years ago for some matches, but moved over to a Ruger BH from the S&W 57. I'll try to dig it out and take some pictures.

35 yrs. ago, Lee had several interesting cast bullet designs that sadly have dropped by the way side.

Ben, I don't have it figured out any more than you. I suppose that after a while you learn to look at something and just know how it is supposed to work? I think that is a good thing.

I miss many of those old Lee designs. I used to shoot a 190 gr Lee for 30 cal that was awesome. No idea where that mould went.....
