Nice. That salesman looks pretty young, but it is good to see a young man making something of himself. ; )

I think the boy is trying to tell his dad that he wants the cannon for himself!

Beats me. He said he fired it a few times.

Don't think so. With a full charge of 1F, my 1" bore delivers quite a stout recoil, enough to yank those trunnions right out of those little straps. Notice that the straps don't even fit the trunions well and are loose. Mine recoils a full 10' with a moderate BP charge behind a 1" ball bearing. The ball bearing weighs 1050gr, you can imagine the recoil. Many of these are created to be mostly decorators and fire a light signal report, not a full charge with a ball, this one looks like that could be what it is made for. Looks nice though.

I've got a 50-cal traditions cannon.
While it could shoot round balls, that would be pretty deadly.
I hit upon a nice load - tightly packed tin-foil cylinder in a 50-cal sabot.
30-grains of powder.
It'll knock down a triangular stack of beer-cans from about 15 feet away.

It is a cool cannon. It would make a great signal cannon.

Mine was all built from PVC and built like a spud gun. I used either as a fuel. With the 4ft battel it would shoot a gold ball about 300 yards and still hit what ai wanted.
