I recently bought a Mk4No1 SMLE and I also bought the Target sight for the rifle. After installing the sight and goiong shooting I started to wonder what each detent or "click" was in terms of MOA change.

Is there anyone on this site who knows?

Good morning,
Forrest

Forrest:

I have seen both 1/2 minute and 1/4 minutes sights. The one that is on my Parker-Hale T-4 (No.4 Mk2 with heavy 7.62x51 barrel) has a stick-on overlay for 7.62 to cover the oiriginal elevation scale for the Mk VII cartridge. That sight is marked "1/4 Min" on the gallows arm. The one that is on my Savage No.4 does not have the 1/4 min marking and is definitely 1/2 minute. Unless your sight is marked thus, I would assume 1/2 minute unless shooting tests indicate otherwise.

Resp'y,
Bob S.

Hi
If it is a PH5C the increments will be 1/2 MOA.
I believe the PH5A & B are 1/4.

Thanks gentlemen,

By this time I had just about figured that the elevation clicks were 1/2 minute each just from shooting the rifle over the distances. I have not nailed down the windage "clicks" quite so firmly but believe that they are 1/2 minute each as well.

I am constantly running out of windage with the rifle! It only takes about 10 -15 Knots of wind to peg-out the windage adjustment when I shoot the rifle beyond, say 440 yards or so.

There is plenty of elevation to reach all the way out to 1000 yards even with the cast bullets only going out at 1750 ft/sec. But windage? I sure could use at least double what I have.

Good afternoon,
Forrest
