It's a 2.5 liter ultra sonic cleaner.

It's on sale tomorrow 75$. I'm thinking of getting it.

What do you guys use for solution? Any good homemade brews?

I got one about a year ago on sale. first step for gun parts is to clean with carb or brake cleaner (which ever I have on hand) let dry and then I use hot water and a few drops of dawn dish washing liquid. I don't use this cleaner for brass so I can't speak to that. Does a good job on the small parts.

I use mine for brass! Put about a teaspoon of citric Acid in for each pint of water and add about 1/2 teaspoon of Dawn dish soap Turn it on and let it run for about 20 minutes. Your brass will be as clean as new! After I rinse the brass well in HOT water I dry them in an old bath towel, put them on a cookie sheet and place them in a table top oven set at 140 degrees for an hour. I've been doing this for over 3 years with NO problems at all. I also clean fired 22 rimfire brass this way for swaging into bullets. Once before I do any work on the brass and again after derimming.

Same as the Lyman model, but the tray's too small. Ordered one of the Lyman trays. Fits perfect and holds lots of brass.

I have had this model for about 4-5 years. It works great. Use a mixture on water, 1-2 teaspoons Lemishine, and 4-5 drops of Dawn Dish washing detergent. Heating setting with it works great for enhancing the cleaning action, good clean brass. I do see a build up of crud/dirt on the plastic bottom tray, but other than it works great.

i have that same one and use it for cleaning brass... i put the cleaning solution in 1 quart pyrex measuring bowls, put the brass in that, and then put the bowl in the water bath of the cleaner (if that makes sense)

cleaning solution: lemishine and dawn

I do not know about this specific ultrasonic cleaner, but for a cleaning solution, simple is best. I use two or three drops of Blue Dawn soap and 2/3 of a teaspoon of citric acid. You can use Lemishine in place of straight citric acid, because the main ingredient in Lemishine is citric acid .

There really isn't a need to get too fancy with the cleaner. You want to get out as much gunk as you can from the inside of the case. The ultrasonic vibration is going to do that. The soap/acid addition will help to loosen things and give the cases a dull shine.

Has anyone figured a way to bypass the program cycle rate which is limited to about 4 minutes? I would prefer not to have to babysit if/when I desire a longer run. That is my only complaint with the unit.

If you have a store close by, check there first. May end up cheaper after a 25% coupon.

Picked the unit up last night. Got it for 74.99, then was able to use another 25% off with another couple of items I bought while I was there. Broke it out and used it last night with some simple green, and tried it on my BCG. I was blown away. Happy with the results. Turned out great!

I will be ordering the steel drop in basket here soon as I will be using this on my 22LR brass. I had a primer that some how made it through my SS media and into my derim die before POP! I'm hoping I can prevent that with this ultra sonic cleaner.

Have been using one for over a year now. Works great with about 4-500 22 shells at a time with any of the above mentioned formulas. Setting the timer to 480 and letting it run will leave little time to baby-sit it, even if it shuts down, if the solution is still hot it keeps on working. GREAT RESULTS and a lot cheaper than buying the HORNADY version!!!

You pay for the Hornady name. Because of the Internet, you can investigate equipment and buy from places like ebay or reputable online businesses easier than ever before.

I bought one am useing it right now. Seems pretty cool put Lemshine and dawn. For fun also tried my small Dillon vib (not rated for water) put some ceramic media two tablespoons of Lemshine little dawn and 1/2 quart of water. Bam seems almost instant shine. It's running right now. Will see if it's wrecks the Dillon. I hope not.

The Dillon worked great. Note to self the ceramic med fills up the 22 case and is a pain to remove. Won't do that again next time gonna clean fin bullets. Just put em in the old toaster oven to dry em and see if the ceramic media comes out easer.

After 4 min
Really is a paint to have to watch the cleaner and reset every 480 sec.

Was better in 8 min. But now they are pink. Gotta say this is some of the worst brass I have seen.

Use a distilled water and that discoloration will not happen.

Someone here recommended this site a while back to learn how to do it. http://www.6mmbr.com/ultrasonic.html I use this recipe for really fouled range brass, Unique, and black powder loads.

24 minutes - 50% Vinegar + 1 Drop Dish Soap per 8 ounces water
480 seconds - Baking Soda (BS) in water (1 grain BS per ounce of water)
480 seconds - Hot Water
480 seconds - Distilled Water
Total: 48 minutes
Cost: Less than $2.00 per gallon

I put the cases in a smaller container and float it in plain water. It's much easier than dumping the whole thing and I don't need the basket at all.

I picked up one of these today. Does anyone have a cleaning solution recipe using Simple Green?

Thanks.

What I read on simple green was to cut it 50/50 with water. Some said it was hard on aluminum, but I'm not sure if that was full strength or cut ratio.
