I posted a few days ago about this blued Mark III target I was looking at for $250 with Ruger leather holster, all factory accessories, and 3 mags. My experience was shooting one randomly at a buddies house when his friend brought it over and 20 minutes of reading about them online....admittedly most of that was upgrades. I stumbled upon the one in question randomly at the LGS and grabbed it based on a quick inspection, the near new condition of the gun and spotless chamber/barrel. They even knocked $50 off it at check out since I have bought a few guns and some connections to the family. I got it home and, completely my fault about not fully knowing what I was looking at, realized that it's a 22/45, not a Mark III. My understanding is that this was still a plenty fine deal and the big difference in the grip angle, poly frame, and ability to take 1911 grip panels. Anything else I should be aware of?

I didn't mean to make the subject LGS screw up, I meant something along the lines of mix up. Definitely NOT anybodies fault but my own for moving to quick. I'm very happy and just want to make sure I don't overlook any differences. And brag about my new pistol!

I just pick up a 22/45 made in 2012 used in super mint condition from the original owner
came with 5 mags and a upgrade front fiber sight for $300.00
The guy never shot the gun claimed the Long trigger pull turn him off, breaks clean at 3 1/2lbs a few upgrades will correct the trigger travel.

Your 22/45 is a great trainer for the 1911. The same grip angle. From what I've seen on the rugers is to fix the trigger and change the rear site and you are good to go. I have an old MK1 with a 5.5in bull barrel and after getting the trigger and sites done I have a fine shooter. The sites are okay as original but I wanted something closer to what my 1911 had on it.

Only thing I'd say would be aware magazines are frame specific.

I only have one buddy with one and his has the pac-lite upper on it - suppressed

I found it to be a great lightweight carry 22.
Like this but different color

The biggest thing to know is probably that you have to have a different magazine for the 22/45 as artful pointed out. Mine had a number of jamming issues, but after a surprisingly long break in and the removal of the loaded chamber indicator, it's pretty solid now. I very much enjoy shooting it. I and most others shoot better with that gun than with whatever else they bring.

Disassembly is a bit difficult. I do not think it is really exceptionally complicated, but the fitting is so tight that it takes a lot more force than I would have ever thought advisable.

.

The 22/45 has a 1911-shaped gripframe, but has integral grip panels AFAIK, and won't accept 1911 grips.

I know many are that way but some have grips that can be changed out.

I had a mark III and couldn't get used to it. The grip angle just did'nt fit me. I've always loved 1911's, so when the 22/45 came out I couldn't resist. It's the only .22 pistol I carry these days. The grouse around here don't seem to like it very much.

crazy mark

My Mark III is also a 22/45. I knew that when I bought it. The grip panels aren't replaceable with 45 panels. Nice gun however.

I have the Mark III 22/45 Hunter model with the 7" fluted bull bbl., fully upgraded action/trigger components. It's a lot of target pistol for the money. Removable grip panels were added in later models due to popular demand. Just don't use the wrong mag loading assist widget, you'll end up disassembling the mag to get it off... [smilie=1:
