125 RN .356 sized, bulges the case. RCBS dies. Should I try Lee sizer. Am I case sizing too much?

actually the 9mm case is slightly tapered & when an oversized booilt is seated ya see it , the shinier the brass the bigger it looks . I `ve recently started with 380 & ya oughtta see it bulge with a 3565 boolit .
But they chamber ok & work the action (BERSA) & that`s the goal, Oh yeah , the lee 95 rn is fairly accurate , I just can`t get over the slide jumpin back , I guess that`s why I`m a wheelie guy !!

It's fairly common. You have to keep in mind that a 9mm case is tapered. how much bulge are we talking? Do your rounds chamber? If they chamber and cycle I wouldn't worry too much.

RCBS dies have an expander plug. Is it set properly?
Is the case bulged before you insert the bullet?
Does the case reduce the size of the loaded cast bullet?
Are you seating the bullet too deep? Do you know how to tell?

If the case is being sized down too much try backing off the size die some. Only size enough to firmly hold the boolit and chamber well. A good micrometer is an essential part of successful reloading.

All of my 9mm have a little bulge but they chamber and fire fine, all ~15,000 so far. The is with the Lee 125 RN and mostly the 120 TC.

Try the plunk test.
If it passes the plunk test don't worry about it.

Look in the inside of the seating die. Is there a shoulder there for roll crimping. If so just set the die til it stops when you screw the die down on a sized case in the shell holder. If you screw it down more than that the pressure from contact with the shoulder will bulge the case.

I have found that some 9mm cases have a step in the wall thickness where the boolit sets on. If you are using a slug that is heaver than the original one, then it will seat past the step and bulge the case or size the slug down more.

You did not mention what brand of brass you are using. Some brands have thicker case walls and will bulge when loaded. I sort my 9mm cases by brand and only use one kind. It is not like 9mm brass is scarce. You might trade off the ones you don't need or keep them as part of the national brass reserve.

I had Buckshot make me an oversize expander for 9mm reloading. This is with a Dillon press.

I load .357-9 in my 9mm cases. I use a .38 expander just deep enough to seat a boolit. i still have to bell with the 9mm die but i do my cases in stages. Clean then size. Sometime later prime. Then expand. Last would be bell and load. I am retired so i do have some time on my hands.

I just ordered a Wilson case gauge and I'm going to adjust the sizing die. I will try to get a before and after shot.

I do separate by case brand. I also trim them after sizing for uniformity. I think the group is WRA head stamp.

If it chambers freely, it is fine.

All my 9mm cases have a bulge with all bullets.
Its all good though. I never have to worry about bullet back set because of the tension.

Run it through a Lee bulge buster and be done with it.

Most carbide dies size cases down too much. As mentioned before, check your chambering.
