I use #314299 in my Finn M39. Light load without GC, as-cast and unsized, Lee Liquid Alox, 8.0-9.0 grains of Bullseye, fine out to 100 yards.

GC load for 100-yard shooting 15.5-16.0 grs.#2400.

Heavier GC load for 200-300 yards 30 grs. RL7.

Also good with GC and harder alloy 16 BHN minimum, 35 grs. of 4895, 4064, RL15 or Varget for 200-300 yards.

Use the 314299 in a Finn model 27.20.0 grs 4759, javelina lube, hansen cases, win lr primer. Shoots great. Very popular boolit with moisins, as you can already see. Frank

With a Mosin you should slug your bore. I have 2 MNs and one is .315" and the other is .316". This is in the throat. I use Hi-Tek coating so I can add size to the boolits.
I use either SR4759 at 19 to 20 grs or Alliant 300 MP at a couple of grains more. I have a pistol scope on 1 of them and have shot groups under an inch at 100 yards.

I was going to try and use my NOE Brass 311365 mould it cast 312.5- if so would get sized down to 312 and have to shoot some and see
May end up with 313 with 30 grain H-4895
IT IS A REAL SHOOTER IN A 30-06 CASE shoots great groups at 100 with 34 grains H-4895 and anther fellow **** them with 34 of IMR 4896 and they worked just as well just slighly hotter
Would like to find some use for them in my Mosin if not 2 undersized.
Whats my best bet to slug the barrel? Cheap and easy to get is a plus

Thanks guys, Loaded Rl 7, Imr 4198, and SR 4759. See how it goes I have a scope on one of my mosin's so I can do some fairly reliable accuracy testing. Cast the first batch with aloy @ 17 Bn, gas checked sized to .313. Lyman book calls for Accurate 5744 quite a bit, not to much Accurate powder here in Canada, I have lots of other brands and burn speeds so we shall see. Might be a slight delay as the mercury outside is -17 F and I am content to wait until the bullet does not freeze on the way to the target.

So you're the one hoarding the remaining Javelina lube..........[smilie=l:

I'm down to my last 2 tubes.........:(

Hoarding ?? ... why Larry , that's such strong language but I'd be guilty too 'cause I think I have a few tubes I'm still working on ;-) so far my favorite load for the Mosin is seventeen and a half grains 2400 , A real fat 311299 lubed with Javalina, GAR lube etc.........

I'm using that bullet in my 91/30 with 27 gr of RL-7. WCWW with 2% SN sized to .313. They are averaging 1830 fps. I'm still tweaking it. I may try some dacron and see if it helps.

I'm partial to 4895 in my MNs with 3/4 gr Dacron filler with my 314299. I also cast it softer and HP it with a Forster 1/8" HP tool.....awesome on deer!

Larry, you must not have shot the Hi-Tek coated boolits yet if you are still looking for boolit lube. LOL

In case you run out of lube I combined 2 lubes to make one that stood up to the Az heat pretty well and still offered no leading in most cases.

By weight: 2/3 Carnuba Red to 1/3 Magma Lube.

Thanks for the info. Have some of each of your PC'd bullets loaded but will have to wait a while. Have to marry off youngest daughter. I will post the results for sure.

a 303 Nose and 314 body with 18g of 5744 hs worked in all of the Russian guns for me.(no fillers)In Finn 39's-27's and 28's i can get a 301 x 301 bullet to shoot well.

The 314299 mold I have casts .314 on the body and .303 on the nose, liked the way it shot so bought a second one in case I screw up the first. Very versatile mold. Frank

Tried 3 powders with the mosin IMR 4198, Varget, and SR4759 all grouped about the same @ 50 3" or so. Big suprise was my #4 Enfield with the 185 gr. Lee mold Sized @ .313" with 31.0 gr. of Varget a 10 shot string in 1 ragged hole @ 50 yards. Enfield did not like the IMR 4198 so much. When so of this damn snow melts I will shoot this load at longer range. Mosin did not shoot the Lee bullet very well 6" @ 50 with Varget.

That would be the boolit I would use if the bore of my sons 7.62 x 54 didn't look like like a gutter downspout.

The load I have settled on is:
Lyman #314299 sized .314", Winchester 7.62x54R brass, Remington 9 1/2 M LRM Primers
3.0 gr Alliant 2400 under 48.2 gr WC867 ( not yet chronographed )
After walking the impacts up by adjusting the scope, this is a 10 rd group at 50 yds.

This is a loaded round, a fired round, and a fired round's primer.

This is my Nagant.

Larry if I had a daughter like yours I'd be sure the shotgun was always near by. Congratulations on the up coming event. I wish your family much happiness and as Paul Harvey was fond of saying about marriages..they are not all "slip knots". I certainly wish that for your kids.

in 91/30's and 39 finns, i shoot water dropped gas checked in a 314 sizer and about 22gr of imr 4227 with rem primer and lapua brass, for 1600-1700 fps for 100 and 200 yd shooting.
i managed 2nd place for the yr in 200yd matches.

Nice to see you posting on the forum again Mike! My M 39 (Sako) wouldn't be too happy with a .314" CB, but #314299 @ .312" with a load such as yours is perfect for it. A "fat" Loverin, also @ .312", but 9grs. lighter works almost as well.
