I don't know if they're the "best" but I've used Lee 6.5x55 dies for many years without any problems.

There is not a correct answer to any "What is the best ..." question.

Okay, fair enough. Let's change it to "Which brand of dies do you prefer for the 6.5x55............and why?" Hows that?

I have RCBS because they were the cheapest ones on sale when I needed them. I have dies by Herters, Pacific, Lyman, Wells, Bair, Lee, Redding, CH, RCBS, Hornady, and some with no name. I have found that any well made dies will make good cartridges.

The best are either the Redding dies with the competition seater
or the Forster with the Ultra or Benchrest seater.

The above dies are the BEST, but be prepared to pay dearly for them. For the standard priced dies I prefer Hornady due to the sliding sleeve in their seating die.

I prefer and use Lee's collect neck and Lyman's full length sizers, and Lyman's Precision Alignment in-line seater.

If I was buying new today, I'd go with Hornady's Custom Grade New Dimension dies. I prefer in-line seater dies, and when I bought Swede dies, Hornady wasn't making them. I have them in other calibers and like their ease of disassembly for cleaning, over the PA die.

I have a Forster Co-Ax press..................so maybe it would be a good idea to check with them.

i run the whole spectrum of die manufactures. Lee dies work as good as Herters, work as good at Lyman, and so on and so forth. But the "non common" caliber rounds, the better dies in my opinion would be Herters, or RCBS. To me Dillon is just a Hummer and Suburban, they are made out of the same soda can.
