I have a 1885 bpcr 45-90 on the way obviously it will be feed cast boolits both lubed and paper patched

I have been reading alot about starline 45-90 2.4" brass being on the short side for most chambers so i was thinking i should just order 45-100 2.6" brass and trim it to the chamber since the brass is only $3 more per hundred and i don't feel like buying a brass stretcher, any thoughts on the matter would be appreciated

You will never go wrong buying long brass and trimming it. With that said I use standard .45-90 in my C. sharps highwall with no issues. If you find that you just want to add 0.010" or 0.015" then the cheap case stretcher that Buffalo Arms sells will work fine.

I ended up ordering 100 starline 45-100 as it was the only yellow brass I could find in stock the price difference between 45-90 and 45-100 isn't that bad but it is a big jump from 45-70 to 45-90 I could defiantly see investing in a case stretcher with 45-70 I will have to see how the chamber is in my new gun to determine future brass purchase once 45-90 is again available

By all means get an accurate measurement of that chamber before you cut any metal off of those cases.
Personally, I would consider fireforming the brass (in that chamber) before deciding what the final length should be.

Starline 45-90 brass will shrink when you fire it.
I have one and have been shooting it for 10 years.
Don't go crazy worrying about it.
But as you've ordered 45-100 brass, you - could load a fire forming load with no bullet and see exactly where the chamber ends and the free-bore begins. A browning 1885 has a HUGE free-bore, about 1/4 inch if memory serves me.
Here's an old thread you may find helpful.
