But what is this one? It is my latest project I pulled out of the back of the safe. Nothing I have mentions anything near this, especially for a 100 year old revolver. The revolver is stamped for 8mm Lebel. Base and rim would be right, but the cylinder is 2" long while the Lebel cartridge is only about 1.25" OAL. The stop for the cartridge where the throat starts is 1.5" in. I opened up a 7.62 Nagant into a straight walled case and trimmed it down until it chambered. A Lyman 31950 seated so it would crimp in the lube groove gives just about the right OAL. A round nose at about ~125 gr would probably be closer to the real thing. It looks to me like the Europeans blew out the .32-20 to 8mm about 100 years ago. Probably would shoot horribly with actual 8mm Lebel ammunition and that 1" jump to the barrel. European revolver cartridges from the late 19th Century will drive you to drinking. I recently researched an 8mm Gasser cartridge and only found a single line mention on a single site, and no pictures. It seems everybody in those days would copy and "improve" everybody elses work. Then some would rechamber Gassers to Belgian cartridges, and so on. No wonder they all try to kill each other every few decades.
