think i traded into an engraved model 92 winchester. 45 colt with a 24 inch round barrel. pristine new with the straight grip.

what id like to know ... after reading everything i can cast my eyes on ... is what mod's have you done and how did yours react to those mod's?

i also would like a breakdown of aftermarket parts available for this little shooter and if possible ... a how to on performing them.

is there a place where i can find the serial numbers that correspond with the year built?

thanks all.

Ted

Can't help with your questions, but congrats on the new shooter.

Congrats, looking forward to a range report and pics. Personally I'd have to add tang or receiver sights but other than that I'd probably leave it alone.

i have heard of improvements for the rebounding hammer and also the wrist mounted sliding safety. do these new ones come apart the same as the old ones?

i definitely will give a report on the shootability as well as short range accuracy. function and smoothness. cant wait for the danged ol mail.

Give Turnbull a call. They did away with the rebounding hammer and tang safety on my '86. Their work is a little pricey but qualits never is cheap

I put a Marble's tang sight on mine - and used the one "recommended" by the "experts" as Midway. Worked fine out to 50 yards, but then I ran out of elevation adjustment. Perhaps I could have shimmed the sight, but I changed to the "Improved" Marbles and the mid-range sight post. Now I use a 6:00 hold at 50 yards and have enough clicks to get on target at 200 yards.
However...
If I were to start over (drill new holes) I'd go with a Williams receiver sight like I have on my .22 lever gun. I feel the adjustments are more accurate and for some reason I seem to shoot better with the Williams than the Marbles...just a personal thing, but it's me shoot'n the gun, so it's all "personal."

Probably should. But, impatience is part of our disease, isn't it?

.

Your engraved .45 Miroku/Winchester 92 was only made around 2008, IIRC.
