MiHec 308 Hunting Boolit 2 or 4 Cavity Brass Cramer Rerun

This GB is Closed.......

This is the second run of a new boolit design. This will be a two or four cavity, single crimp groove, cramer brass GCHP mold that is suitable for the 30 caliber rifles. It will cast at 0.312". The weight was about 154 gr as a hollow point and 159 gr. as a solid. The nose design is similar to the 311440 and 30 silhouette molds of my design. In shooting the boolits from the first run, i've found this to be an excellent boolit in the 308 Win rifles. I'm shooting them at about 2,100 fps with extremely good accuracy and the killing power on varmints is DRT.

Pin options include: 1) large round HP, 2) blank pin for solid

For the two cavity mold, the price is $90 with one set of HP pins included plus $8 for the extra blank (flat nose) pin set if wanted plus $15 shipping.

For the four cavity mold, the price is $120 with one set of HP pins included plus $16 for the extra blank (flat nose) pin set if wanted plus $20 shipping.

Edit: If the HP pins are not suitable for reversal to a solid, the blank pins come with the price of the mold. If you do not want the HP pin sticking out of the base of the mold, in the case of reversable pins, you can order a set of blank pins for a smooth mold bottom.

Sequence of events: Participants order molds and are placed on the list, the Group Buy will close (which will be posted on the thread) at some time determined by MiHec, the molds are made from the orders on the list at the time it is closed or by altering what you want via PM to MiHec after it's closed. Extra molds should be available... order them by PM to MiHec. Invoices will be sent out via e-mail from the listed addresses and you pay by using Paypal...... It is my understanding the invoice will be in Euros which Paypal converts from Euros to dollars. After you pay, the mold gets shipped.

Prices are somewhat variable due to the exchange rate.... be aware of this.

Not all orbiting up works, especially with GC shanks. The as cast is about 0.312" vs a 0.323" for a 32 gives a 0.011" difference in diameters (not withstanding the two major 32 Special diameters of 0.319" & 0.322"). Gas check shank maximum diameters are 0.287" for the 30 and 0.304" for the 32.... the difference there is 0.017"..... So, that doesn't work too well (with a 0.006" undersize shank) and we haven't checked the throat diameters yet either to see if they fit at all. If some of you want this enough, you need to send me lead impact throat slugs of Marlin and Winchester and I will try to fit them correctly. Sorry this doesn't work out as this would have been a nice addition.............

I hope it will, but as far as I know no one has tried it. I especially want an upper myself and this is the candidate for it. It should about get to 2,000 fps in one and be VERY effective. This boolit has been tried in about 4 .308 AR 10's and they have fed in them from the magazine. Another guys AR 10 did not feed them nor some other things it should have though.

Received it today and it is superb quality.
Same goes for the mold handles he makes.

This mold is becoming the favorite of a lot of 100m airgunshooters here in the Netherlands.

Sized in .309 these bullets shoot very well in my Corsair .308 (airgun).

Compared to powder burners we have a very small pressure build up in the barrel.
Most if not all airguns have a maximum working pressure of 300 bar.

The barrel has a 1:20 twist rate.

Here's my results from the first attempt at developing a load for my 30/06. all with 2400. I was actually looking for more vertical stringing, but I guess I wasn't far enough back. next time, same test at 100 yards. the black dot above the holes is a rough zero for non-cast 165 gr load. This was with forend resting on a camp chair. 3-shot groups at 19, 19.5, 20, 20.5 gr of 2400:

It works fine in an Armalite although I'm not loading it to work semi-auto.... much to destructive at the velocity needed. It feeds slick as a gut just dropping the bolt though and shot to the rifles zero at 50 yards.

On another thought, I got to try this boolit in one of the new Mossberg 308 rifles with the AR-10 style (not that AR-10 mags work, the system is DPMS style mags) mags. Boolit fed 100% with slight bump on the edge of the meplat showing and it nose engraves lightly when seated correctly. It looks like it will do quite well in those rifles.

Anyone who enters a MiHec GB should realize no time frame could be given. MiHec determines his own schedule. From what I have seen and heard.... it seems he has some help now though I can't confirm that.

If you follow these GBs, you will see a lot of these guys jump in and out, sometimes three times or so and they drop out at the end or after it's closed. Your the guy who has to decide what to do yourself. If you can shoot and buy/trade rifles etc., you have the money to set back for a mold.

45: I did some basic research but I'm short on time (hey I have a 6 month old kid and travel for work here! ;) ) so let me just ask this before I throw down for this one. Have you shot this in a 30-06 or have reports from those that did. I saw some references to it being more for the 308 at least in weight but my 30-06 is pretty good about lighter bullets and I'm not looking for .5" groups with this one. The hex pins won't do anything the large ones will in a rifle cartridge, but they aren't anticipated. Both of your choices present problems in Europe as I understand it. Several people have a friend pay for them on paypal. I don't know of another way.

I've tried this in two semi-auto AR-10's and an AR-15 in 300 AAC..... The Armalite fed it,the WW didn't and the 300 AAC didn't. It depends on the two feed ramps on the barrel extension a manufacturer puts on them. I usually use this in one of the Ruger Gunsites which are center feed and work fine....... haven't tried it in anything else. I'll wait on your decision to put you on or not.

Yes things happen and its funny that something's are hidden in plain sight. I sent a PM and no problems, with a quick reply from Mihec and all is well.
I didn't see it till I was sent 2 email request for payments.

With all the requests for moulds and production of them, it has to make his head spin.

So with that said, he and his work is truly OUTSTANDING there are not many business that are so reliable and masters of the craft of mould making that are equal too then those found and on Cast Boolits and Mihec is one well waiting for.

I didn't know who this request was from, and At first I figured it was some scammer so I initially ignored it and almost cancelled it,.

Since you asked, no it isn't. For the 2 years' or so worth of buys I have tracked the delivery record is for the H&G #503 re-run (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?202158-Rerun-Mihec-H-amp-G-503-Clone-432-250). It was just ONE day from the request for payment to people reporting receivng the moulds in the USA. Clearly Miha must have shipped out a bunch before requesting payment, trusting that casters must be an honest lot.

Typical timeframe of call for payment to first USA delivery is 8-9 business days, so there have been several buys that have had the same kind of delivery. It's the only stage of a Mihec group buy that is predictable.

This is my 5th Mihec mold, and I haven't kept track, but it just seemed quicker than the rest of mine so far. I want to say the last one was closer to 3 weeks between payment and delivery. I'm not complaining, I mean, with the waits on these, I see the call for payment as the end of the wait anyway, so not worried about it. And the quality of the molds I have gotten so far make the wait worth-while, regardless if it is a month or a year.

Mine came today. For those who haven't received theirs yet, I have waited for 3 wks +. I seem to remember some waiting even longer.

On a separate note, my mold was a two cavity w/blank and HP pins. I also got enough snap rings for a four cavity. It is nice to have extras of these little buggers but if someone loses one or two, I can always tape some in an envelope and send them out. Maybe Miha just throws in extras. Buying in bulk, they can't cost too much.

I received mine just today.

I just casted a short run of this.
first band is .312, 2nd band is .310.
nose ahead of crimp band is .303
cast in WW it is 146gr and 151 gr respectively of HP & FP
dimensions and weight are boreingly consistant.
I set up the mold as 2 HP and 2 FP and the HP just fall out of the mold. the FP are a bit sticky.
I guess I'll setup the other 2 cavities as HP if they release like the other.
