I'm dying to get a Rossi '92, and probably in .357 Is there any issues with using the Mihec 180 gr.'s? I shoot it in all of my handguns and like it.
thanks!

Works just fine in my Rossi, I'm sizing to .359 and weigh 185 grains with my alloy. Using 2400, as my powder of choice, for all my magnum revolvers and levers.

That's nice to know. I haven't used anything over 158gr in mine.

Bud's shows several different 357's in stock. I got my 20" stainless from them last fall. It's a lot of fun. The only thing mine won't feed is wadcutters in 38 cases. It does feed them in 357 cases.

How fine is fine? I am thinking about a Rossi. They are a 30" twist. What kind of accuracy are you getting with the 180s? Carbine or rifle?

I'm getting sub two inch groups at 60 yards with the carbine. I don't shoot off a bench---just use a camera tripod with a owl ear bag, for forearm support. Have a Bushnell red dot mounted mid-barrel. Didn't purchase it as a tack driver. Just something to shoot up the copious amounts of 38 Spl ammo, I reloaded, over the years. With the 180 / 357 loadings, It just might make a fine tree-stand gun for whitetails.

I've watched John (winelover) shoot that way and it amazes me how well he does like that. If I can ever talk him into setting up a proper bench and shooting from it he would probably be exceptional at shooting groups. No joy yet getting him to do that but I'm working on it. Besides, I shoot at his place and I NEED A BENCH.

I have Lar45 and Ranch Dog's 180-190 grainers and they have to be set really deep to chamber.

That said, I have yet (with somewhat limited testing) to find an accurate load with 180s.

So far the Rossi (20") prefers a 358156. Best loading gives a group about 1.5" at 50. That is two separate 5 shot groups on the same target about 30 minutes apart.
Quick Load calculates the velocity to be 1400ish.

Wonder why Rossi did not use the faster twist like the Winchester and Marlin?
