Anyone ever use Re Loader # 7 in a 308 shooting cast ? If so what wt. bullet ?
I know Bruce B tried in in his M1A testing but didn't try it with the heavier bullets. I'm thinking 180-200 gn.
Maybe the newer Lyman CB manual ?? my 1950's version shows 4198, 4759,4895, BLC2, , ie, powders of that era

The more recent Lyman Cast Bullet Handbooks and the 48th and 49th Lyman Reloading Handbooks all show quite a few cast 308/Reloader 7 loads.

I think C.E Harris recommends Re7 for his all-round 600yd /hunting load in military cartridges. Take a look at the sticky in loads for military rifles. If I remember correctly between 26 to 28 grs or so with the bullet weights as he recommends. It's been a while since I've read the posts.

This is worth nothing because your rifles and mine are different, but I gave it a very good go with several boolits in the 150-190 grain range and it never grouped well with any of them. Not terrible, but my rifles didn't like it. .30-30s love it, as do my hot .45 Colt loads with heavy boolits, and several others including .35 Remington. 45 2.1 is having good success with SR 4756 (I think) in the Ruger rifles. My bolt .308 likes H414 and H335 but not H4350 or 3031.

Lyman 49th has you covered on data.

yes I have. Using 20g won me a few matches with the 180SP RCBS. Great powder for the 308
