Who has one and who uses one?

My understanding is that it is to remove and flashing at the GC shank. I really dont have an issue with this currently, but am always looking to expand my horizons and tool collection.

Would this help with those GC shanks that are slightly oversize and make getting the GC on the base a easier instead of a PITA?

Thanks all!

Try NOE molds website. Look in the Vendor Sponsor area for the link.

Have one from NOE. Got the kind that chucks up in a drill. Haven't used it much. Kind of hard to hold the boolit with the motor turning the cutter. If I were to do it again, I'd get the hand turned kind. My experience is that it tapers shanks to aid in seating gc on slightly oversize shanks. It does that okay.

I use a case chamfer tool. It's a Midway brand without the post in the 'outside" end. I give it one hand turn around the base of those bullets with flash and it does a good job.

Here's a link to the Noe base chamfer tool. It's a very well made tool and does a good job for it's purpose. I use the handheld model for knocking the edge off some GC bases allowing for easier fitting of the check. It also works to remove the thin base flash from swaged paper patched bullets.

That's where I saw it and was asking. I never knew there was such an animal.

I agree as I have a couple of molds that cast bullets that need a bit of chamfering at the base to enable the gas checks to seat easily.

My prominent hand had developed RA so I'm limited to the amount of use I can grip with so I chose the one for power tools and use it for 225 and up. I chamfer the bases, then seat the gas checks so I know they are on straight, all in the comfort of my big recliner

I would be very careful with that one or you might be short a few fingers with those sharp ends sticking up

Your right about that Walter, they are pretty sharp.

They do get the burrs of the case mouth though after using my old redding trimmer which leaves a decent burr all around the mouth,, a couple of twists and they are outta here.

I use NOE's chamfer tool as well.

You didn't mention what caliber(s) you shoot the most of, or how often you need to chamfer your boolits.

That being said, NOE's hand held chamfer tool might be your best bet. It is a very high quality tool and will last a life time. Come to think about it, everything I have from NOE's is top notch.
