been trying to find a limited III marlin for a couple years with no luck. Its a 18.5 inch oct barreled 4570. I finaly gave up and bought a 26 inch cowboy. I think im going to send it to clements and have it shortened and some other work done on it. Probably a good pad, some good sights an action job and maybe case hardened, then have my buddy who is a custom stock maker refinish and checker it.

Sometimes that's the only way to get what we really want. Sounds like a good project too. Keep us updated. Would really like to see pics and hear how it does for you.
:drinks:
On the day you get the rifle back from Clements you just know that two of them will show up for sale at the local gun store.

Lloyd, you just described semi-custom gunsmithing projects in toto.

Yeah, but if Lloyd has all that done, it should be real nice. Something to take special pride in.

Lloyd
- another thing nice about getting the cowboy and having all the work done on it - well you are not taking any collector value away from the LTD III - if it were me I would have to shoot it anyway and like you I would be tempted to do some of the same things to it - I just have to shoot mine - collectible or not. I have a LTD V and love it - but am reluctant to get the custom work done - but it sure is fun to shoot - we will see how long it lasts in it's current configuration - fwiw - jb
