Stevens 200

I bought a Stevens 200 in 25-06 4 years ago. It has never worked the way I think that it should. The last time I took it to the range the bolt would not go into battery. The bolt handle will not go completely into the slot in the receiver. The bushing that is between the receiver and the bolt handle can go in about 1/8" inch more. Could it be that the barrel has set itself back? Any other suggestions? I have taken the bolt apart and thought that I messed up. From previous range times the bolt became hard to place into battery.

It wouldn't hurt to check the front action screw I had one hang up there the screw just a touch to long

I think your bolt face is 180% out. Not the bolt face but the gizmo right behind it Give it half a turn and see what happens. One side has a thin groove cut in as an anti bind arrangement that fits a corresponding rail on that side. if the sides are reversed it will cause the problem you are having.

I'll say this much Bullshop, every time I put my savage bolts back together with out thinking I get the thingy in backwards!
