I am thinking of getting this mold and was wondering if anyone has cast and shot this boolit? I would like to find a ranch dog 425gr. mold but those are hard to find anymore.

I have an old Lee group buy mould that throws a. Very similar bullet to the NOE 460 405 plain base.

My advice is GET ONE. I would go plain base. I have driven mine to 1650 with good accuracy and that is plenty for anything I need to do.

Awesome bullet for a Marlin.

I think i read that NOE has permission to start making the Ranch Dog molds. You might get a hold of Al and see when they will start production.
Another thread indicates they are moving into anew facility.

I would rather have this

Than a RD mould any day. This from a guy who owns the 350 and 425 RD along with the NOE version of the 350 RD. I have used all three on deer.

That NOE 405 plain base will be easier to lube, cast well, and doesn't need a gas check. What isn't to like about it? I have a very similar mould and I use it over any of the RD moulds.

I just ordered a few of these to try out in a Ruger No 1 45/70 Lipseys special 26" and a Ruger No 1 Tropical in 458 win mag. I got a plain base solid mould, plain base rg4 and gas check rg4. Hoping these can work well. More than likely will paper patch for the 458. Not sure yet how this design will fit the short throat in the 45/70. Going to start with 4759.
