Do any of you use a lanyard ring and lanyard on your field revolver? I'm getting a Ruger Bisley Flattop in 44 Special and considering having a Bowen lanyard ring mounted.

A must piece of for any field or fighting handgun you can't afford to lose, especially when it is the only weapon you have!

It doesn't need to be fancy or high tech, but you want one. I also use them on other pieces of equipment I want to tether against loss, knife, compass, flashlight, etc.

Many years ago I had an old S&W M&P .38 Special with one.

In addition to being drop proof - It is surprisingly effective in steadying your aim.

Groo here
One suggestion was to cut your grip for some "fiberglass enforced " packing tape.[ small slot]
After looping around frame , and sticking to self , double over and punch hole for a split ring [ key type] and snap on lanyard.
Cheeeeeep.

I don't think this would work on your Ruger but I'm thinking of getting one to put on my Smith pre 10 for when I'm out on the farm or in the woods.

For being out in the field - a lanyard can keep you from loosing a prized handgun for sure. I know several guys who fish a lot and if they have a handgun on them, they have a lanyard attached. The military used them for years for good reasons . . .

Very handy for handgun hunting in a tree stand.

Nothing better for hunting. No worries about dozing off in a tree stand and the gun hangs at the hand when stalking.

A useful handy feature that has been essentially eliminated by manufacturers. Only a couple guns still have them. I wish every hand gun I own had one.

That is the best set-up I've seen Jim and I think you could make a little pocket change offering to install them on BFR's & Rugers.

I have no FFL license plus shipping would be much, much more then I would charge even if you could send me a gun. I do it free for friends.
It is just something anyone can do that has a drill and taps and dies. No special set up, just eyeball the hole.
If you lived close I could set you up for pennies. Pay for the studs and swivel. Any strapping will work, I just like the utility sling because it has buckles. I tape them to prevent noise.

Thanks guys. It certainly seems like a lanyard ring is a practical addition to a field revolver. I'll be putting in an order with Bowen.
