Good tips you have there. You can also cut the collet in two above the retaining step and put the shim in the die. I have a couple sliced up for various custom calibers or for issues like you found in the .303. If you replace a chunk of the collet with a shim stack, you can resize a whole lot of different cartridges not offered as standard. Reminds me, I owe someone one of those collets.
