chamber casting

So I am planning on trying to heed the advice in the sticky and do a chamber cast in my shield 9mm. Do I take the barrell out?

Yes, clean it well. Hold it in a vice and warm it up, not so much that can't put your hand on it. Plug the barrel just below the rifleing
