Any preferences for hacksaw blades? About the only thing available locally is the soft Ace blades. There must be something better out there.

about a year ago lowes had lennox in differant teeth per inch and those are good. I do alot of hack sawing and these work, and they were expensive.

I use lenox or morse brand, if you are cutting tougher material try to find blade with cobalt in them, they will last longer

Starrett or Lennox. I prefer Starrett but both are good.

Lennox or Starret. Either is fine, used to use a lot of Lennox "expendables" at work, and they always lasted longer, hand or power.

if you use a lot of high quality hacksaw blades in your lines of work you may want to consider cryo treating them. they will last a lot longer, many machine shops do this with drill bits and they really stay sharp and last longer. shop around for cryo prices. i use cryo plus, as she is the most reasonable around and uses the same cryo equipment as the rest of them. drill bits that have been cryo treated when they finally go dull and resharped are more sharp than the new ones. just a thought for the pros.

What Exactly are you wanting to cut with it?
Different strokes(and TPI) for different stuff.

I cut a variety of things. Steel from 1/16" to 1/2", brass 3/32" to 1 1/2". Some aluminum, copper, bronze, pewter.

The best blades...........are FREE!

About 8 years ago, a friend gave me a box of 100 English blades...brand new. He said he would never use them. 12" long with various TPI. No brand on them, just "made in England".

Well, 8 years later I am still using the same 4 blades in my 4 hacksaws!!!!! From hard brass to steel to SST, they cut like a knife thru butter.

B4 that gift, I used only Starrett blades.......best I could find!

Sandvik. Buy 'em online. I have a power hacksaw that just chews up hardware-store blades, but not these.

The Lenox 232HE 32TPI blades we use for cutting galvanized steel tubing work very well for that purpose, as well as small soft machine screws.

Most of us use Lenox hacksaws http://www.lenoxtools.com/pages/Product.aspx?productId=HT50+HACKSAW+FRAME with a very rigid frame or something equivalent also, that makes a huge difference too.
We use our hacksaws A Lot.
