I have a Winchester 94 in 30-30, it is a late 60s rifle. The problem I have is that it has almost no throat. Can anyone suggest a mold that will work without lengthening the throat. I thought maybe one of you has dealt with this and can offer suggestions.

Saeco 150 grain FN gas check. #316.
Maybe one of the Ranch Dog bullets.
I don't know what almost no throat measures. What bullet have you tried in it?

Have you tried Lyman 311041? It is one of the old go to boolits for the 30/30. I can mail you a couple if you want to make sure they chamber. Like Gabby said let us know what you have tried and it will help you find what you need. If it will chamber factory ammo I'm sure we can find you something cast to work. Also might help to know what you sized the boolit too. I think you will be able to get things working fine with a little more info. FB

I have a 94 made in 1975 and it really likes the Lee 150 FN. Mine has a very short throat too but this boolit seated to the crimping groove works very well through the action .

Two bullets on the left are the Saeco. 140 grain plain base then 150 grain gas check.
Note the nose above the crimp grove is bore diameter. No front band at all. Mine was .300" and I lapped it a bit to make it .301". Shoots great too. Only problem is Saeco has raised there mold prices above most other brands.
If the Lee would fit that would make a good mold. Lyman has data for the 150gr Lee in there new 4th edition book.

I've an NOE 311 165gr. RF here that doesn't fit my Winny. Thought I had more throat. Should of measured it.
Will be placing this 4 cavity up for sale soon. It was a Ranch Dog designed mold to fill long throats.

I am using an NOE Saeco 315 plain base. The 315 is a tapered design that is supposed to work with many throat shapes. I am no expert and am still trying to get a load worked up to consistantly hit a 12" plate at 165 yards with my early 70's win 94 30-30. I can hit the 165 yard target with no problem with my win 54 30-06 and the same boolit. I read reviews on it and could only find one bad one on here or the internet. Many claim it is the best all around 30 cal boolit they have tried. It may not be perfect for one gun, but it has great accuracy in many. I was willing to give it a try.
