about 250 .45 bullets. if that is permissable.or even if its not.

Buy a set of dies, and make em to your hearts content.

$1,000.00plus dollars seems a tad steep for 250 ....

The problem is that without a 06 or 07 FFL it is not legal for someone to make bullets for sale. As a result you may have a hard time finding someone to do it for you.

Depends on what you've got to barter. 250 swaged from 40 brass might not cost those of us with dies much, but they take a considerable time to make. Like RLW said, only a few of us here can sell them and most that can dont bother with reusing brass. They make copper jacketed.
I'd have to value 250 rounds *from brass* at about 3-3 1/2 hours worth of work. I think that takes away any proposed savings for someone without the dies.

Don't forget about the $1200 per year ITAR licence that you must pay good ol uncle Sam for the privilage to sell self made projectiles to american citizens. I am an 07 FFL and I was shocked when I found out about that.

What? You cannot simply gift the guy a few bullets under the table?

retiredPO PM me You looking for cast?

goodsteel,

The ITAR license is $2300.00 per year. At least that's what we were quoted, which is why we're not selling bullets, even with the Class 7 FFL.

Are you looking for loaded rounds, or just cast projectiles? If just projectiles, what shape, size, weight, etc? If you are a handloader, just research the type of projectile you need, and order. Lee moulds are about $25/mould. NOW, if you are looking for loaded rounds, that's different. You should look for a vendor who does that in your area. There should be dealers in your area who can custom assemble what you want. Good luck.

WOW.... I tend to start trouble where ever I go.... sorry..... A friend gave me a few of the home made, Swaged (if thats correct)
40 cal brass casings that were turned into 45 cal projectiles.... My 45 Long colt loved them.... and while I became aware that
Uncle Obama has made it impossible for you all to sell them to me with out a hefty tax.... I was looking to trade or barter whatever was necessary to feed my Long Colt.... I do reload, and I do Cast.... but for the amount that I want in 45.... getting into the Furnace, the Press. the Dies.. sounds like a bit much.... If I could make them myself, I would... but not for that much money.
I do cast 45 and many other cals... but this brass casing thing is interesting...... thanks for the help.

Oh. You are looking for swagged, brass jacketed projectiles. I don't do that, but some on the site do. Perhaps one of them will see this post and be able to assist. I just assumed you wanted cast, you know - castboolits.com???? Anyway, perhaps someone will be able to help. Hope you don't mind a little ragging. That seems to come with every post. 8-)

I don't believe there is anything wrong with giving some bullets to a friend as you did not manufacture them for sale. The problem is when you make them with the intent of selling them.

mikeym1a, if you look at the top of this page, you'll see that you are on the swaging forum.

Well, a few points here. If I'm reading correct, the OP lives here in the States, no ITAR needed for that. 07FFL is required to sell made bullets, lots of us here as well. And no, 1200.00 is not needed, there are several companies that make dies to fit a normal press that you can use for about 150.00 for the die, figure another 100.00-150.00 if you want to size the cores to keep the weight very consistent, I bet you already have the press so call it 300.00 for what you need. Lead wire is cheap.

reed1911,

You are incorrect on the ITAR requirement. You have to have ITAR if you make bullets for sale, no matter where they're going to end up.

Hope this helps.

If you don't mind half jacketed semi wadcutter or round nose bullets check out the link below. I have one of these dies in 44 and it works fine. You do have to have a method of cutting the brass down to size of which there are several here. Also, check on you tube. Several good videos there.
