Had a big day in other ways today so I went to Cabelas trolling for powder and primers. No joy there or on the used long gun rack. Gun Library had the same guns, only ones that interest me I've fondled and put back on the rack. Decided to take a stroll past the handgun counter and a few Ruger Single Six revolvers caught my eye. Light was funny, but a 1873 SAA replica caught my eye, it was a bright or charcoal blue 5 1/2 Navy Arms 32-20. I like the cartridge, I like the SAA, and I've been wanting a 5 1/2" SAA for awhile. I fondled it awhile, looked at the Ruger Single Sixes and walked away....but didn't get far. First gun I've bought all month!
I haven't cleaned her up yet and the photos don't show the colors well but here she is, the latest Cabelas orphan to follow me home.

Thanks! I have a few 32-20 rounds loaded but I seem to be out of boolits. Bad weather rolling in tomorrow, suspect I'll be firing up the pot!

Happy Birthday! Nice present! I've been looking for a 32-20 for a while . . usually a day late or a dollar short! Looks like you got the best of everything . . 32-20 and a SA! Congrats!

I don't usually get such wonderful birthday presents but then again my birthday isn't till Nov so don't know if I'll hold out that long. Happy Birthday brother!

Poor little thing looked hungry so I cast about 200 TL314-90 boolits for her. She cleaned up pretty nicely as well. Looked almost like a new gun; handled a bit but shot very little. Spotted a box of factory rounds @ $41.95/50 so I guess that's understandable. I should be able to keep my costs in the rimfire neighborhood. Midway even got some brass in, better get an order together.

Does seem to be just what I needed.:drinks:
I've learned that if I troll those used gun counters and racks long enough I'll find something I can't walk away from. I fondled a couple of Ruger 1911 Commanders but couldn't talk myself into it, LGS could probably get me a better $ anyway.

Happy Birthday!
Great lookin' six shooter. If you clean that up anymore I won't be able to look at it. :kidding:

Thanks, you should see her in person! My photography (do we still call it that?) skills don't do her justice. I need a few more gun socks, am keeping a pair of sunglasses on top of the gun safe for now.

Happy Birthday - Great find......I do like the fact you admit that it's the first gun you bought all month, did you type that on Feb 1st or 2nd? I found great humor in that!, it seems that many of us think very much alike! - Congrats on that fine SA - hope it shoots as good as it looks - Bill in MA

Who made this Navy Arms 32-20? It's marked "Made in Italy" and I suspect it's Pietta but wondering if it could be Uberti.

That one hits my soft spot. Dad had one, I think a Colt, and a Winchester rifle in 32-20 when I was a kid. I was really disappointed when he sold them.

I can only imagine, next time you're down my way we'll have to let you shoot my new toy. May even have a Winchester by then. I've only recently gotten interested in this cartridge and it does have a certain odd appeal. I've ID'd my latest toy; it's a Deluxe Model of the 1873 SAA Gunfighter Series. Limited importation in 2003, was only available thru AcuSport. Still wondering about the actual manufacturer.

Wow, little gun shoots! Likes both the 3.0 and the 4.0 231 loads, 4.0 was just starting to open up a bit. Light was just right and I was able to shoot it quite well, one ragged hole for the most part @ 7 yards, just a tad low and left. Will move back to 15 yds next time and see what this old girl will do w/ 3.5 231.

Thanks, guys. She cleaned up very easily and hopefully we're headed out again this weekend. Finally got a rifle to go with this revolver, soon as I figure out a load I have a couple hundred pieces of brass waiting to be loaded. I think I'll even load up a few BP loads just for grins next time.
