This bullets allways did shoot verygood in my 1885 Browning BPCR, but are there better choices. Mike Venturino recomended this bullet several years back and it has allways performed verywell at 100 yards. I have shot several 1 inch groups @ 100 using it with 20/1 alloy and SPG lube

Winchester cases
Winchester Large Pistol Primers
Drop tube, Goex Cartidge or FFg powder compressed 1/8" with .030 fiberwad
Running wet patch down barrel between every shot

I have tried a couple of similar weight Postel designs, but the RCBS was allways more accurate. Great bullet!

Try the saeco 645.
The rcbs 530 gr bullet is a good one if you want to go heavier and stay with rcbs blocks.

The RCBS 530gr was the first mould I used in my first Shiloh. It worked pretty well although I haven't used in a while. It actually casted at 550gr in 20:1. I have the mould for the 500gr bullet but have never used it.

Edit: I think that the best bullet in my Browning 1885 has been the Saeco 745, although the Money bullet works pretty well too. One of these days I'll give the lighter Saeco bullet a try.

Chris.

Chris you won't be disappointed in the accuracy of that 645 and you will likely pickup right away on the less felt recoil and the few more bullets per pot of alloy.

I've had very good results with the RCBS 45-500-bps out to about 900 yards in my 45-90 rolling block. I tried the RCBS 530, but didn't do as well. But sill working to find a way to get 530 to shoot as well as the 500.

An interesting thread. The RCBS 45-500 BPS is one of the bullets I'm considering for my first 45/70 mold. I don't shoot competitively but would like accuracy out to a few hundred yards. I pick up my Pedersoli Quigley (a used gun) on Thursday.

My bullet drops from mould at slightly over .460 and i size to .460 which is .002 over .458 bore size. I think Pedersoli once cut their barrels to a smaller bore size than .458...so slug your barrel with pure lead ball and use micrometer to measure.

Seat your bullet to touch and engrave rifling.

Don ... found a pretty good deal on the 645 mold ... is this a base pour or nose pour mold? also says 480 grain ... is this around what you get in grains ... also what diameter does it pour with your alloy?

thanks Don.

Ubecha. I think you're going to like that bullet.
Keep forgetting to tell ya this one drops them a touch over .458 when using 20-1

I own this mold and I love it.

I couldn't hit squat at 700 yards with it. In fact, we couldn't even begin to see the impacts. Bummer.

On the other hand, it shoots maybe 4" at 100 yards for me, which is just fine cause it's a BFR pistol in 460 S&W, which for me isn't bad for a 5 pound pistol shooting a 500 grian bullet at 1370 fps!

Don't disregard the Lyman 457125. I've had very good accuracy from several 45-70's with it.
