View Full Version : Tin. How good of a score is this

A friend gave me this can of tin. I would say it weighs 3 lbs. I'm just getting into casting. Haven't even cast my first bullet yet. Is this a good score?

Yes I do. I haven't opened it yet. It soulds like small grains in the can

Virgin tin is going about $19 a pound. Various scrap sources on our Swappin and Sellin forum are going about $8 a pound. Both of those are plus postage.

I'd say that makes 3 pounds of virgin tin in your hand for nothing a pretty good score. :)

That is dangerous to use or even have in your residence. Please send it to me immediately for proper disposal.

Now seriously, 3# is enough to alloy a lot of wheelweights or other bullet making material. And this form lends itself to being portioned out in miserly allotments.

That would make 60lb of 95-5 alloy and would add 2% to 150 lb of ws.
