I purchased a .44mag. .45LC. and a .45/70 recently, but am having trouble getting boolits for them. I have ordered lead boolits from two different companies (one in November and one yesterday), but have not gotten shipping info from either one.

I have decided to start casting my own, and want to cast Keith or Keith-style boolits for the .44mag and .45LC (44 = 240gr and 300gr, .45LC = 270-330gr. ), plus decent molds in 300gr and 405 gr for the 45/70. Can anyone suggest molds for these boolits? I have no preference for aluminum over steel or vice-versa.

go to Accurate molds and check Tom's catalog
or for Keith try MP Molds,Miha has a nice mold its a 503 or some denomination similar
or NOE molds has some nice 45 cal 454424 is a nice one for the colt
45-70 no holds barred on that there is numerous molds from these and other mass produced mold makers
the choices are pretty wide

For your .45-70, I have never heard a discouraging word, or had reason to utter one with regards to the RCBS 405 grain gas-checked flat nose. Very accurate in everything I've tried it in to date, and heinously destructive to milk jugs. I'm currently seeking a non-gas-checked slug that performs as well. Others may have the answer.

The "true" Keith .44 bullet is the old Ideal 429421 at 250 grains. The Accurate 43-250K is probably your most readily and rapidly available clone at the moment - doesn't hurt that Tom does an AWESOME job.

The .45 Colt equivalent would be the 454424 at about 255 grains. I believe the Accurate 45-255K is your most authentic baby, but Tom also has a couple of 260, 265, 270, and 290 grain versions following the same general blueprint.
