Well after missing out on Miha's 462 collar button run, and my unwillingness to play Fleabay games. I broke down and bought one. I know, I know, I too am a skeptic. But it measures 0.463" on an optical comparator and should get me close to 0.460", and I wont even feel bad if I have to "beagle" it. Inspection date is 01-16-2014, surprised it isn't still warm. But I think it will suit my gallery loads, and it even came with loading data. Now to make a top punch.

Stay tuned....

Thank you CPL Lou, might I ask which manual its from? I have a thing for old manuals. I like the way that one looks. I have a few from the 40's but this one looks different.

This just looks like a fun boolit to shoot out of my Ruger #3

I have Miha's copy of this mold.
One trick I learned is to tip the mold almost onto its side to get the boolit to release without hammering the daylights out of the hinge pin.
When my health again permits, I plan on using this in all my 45/70's.
May try sizing it down to .452" to shoot in my .45 acp and my .45 Colt.

This boolit is a blast to shoot. I think I ended up liking 8.0 gr. of Bullseye with dacron filler. I had trouble seating them.

Well couldn't resist trying this out. Ran a quick 50. Weights with my mix are 144-145. But the best part is that even though its a new Lyman , measured them and 0.462- 0.463". Surprised me for sure I thought for certain they would be under 0.458".

Lyman makes the top punch... #130. Lyman reissued this mold about 15 or so years ago in limited numbers (100). At that time it came with the TP and a loading sheet that had some very fast loading data.

Thanks 45 2.1, the data was in to box, but no top punch this time :( Not a problem though as long as its casting at these diameters, I'm happy.

The data that came with it is some interesting loads... will need to get it scanned and posted.

Let us know how it turns out. Ive never seen/heard of collar button boolits until I came here. The idea of a gallery load to pop off in the backyard without scaring the neighbors is a very attractive idea.

AS promised, finally got around to posting the data.

Finally they are adding some things to there list they we have all been asking for. I hope unlike all there other stuff it actually casts large enough. They also added a .380 38-55 mold that looks like a clone of the 375248. We'll see....

I'm not sure you want to crank that bullet that fast. 8-9 grains of Unique with a tuft of dacron to hold it against the primer is plenty for decent accuracy. Fairly firm crimp to let it build up steam. I've shot these in the past. About like shooting a .44-40 out of your Sharps. REAL pleasant plinking load! (Good for doves, too... )

I jus got this mold yesterday and made a couple hundred last night...

This was my first mold that fused to open after filling. I learned to gently rap the ?!&$ out of the hinge bolt, then I had to beat the tar out of it again the get the boolits to release. And it wasn't always the same bullet.

Otherwise it's an interesting looking boolit. I finally managed to get it hot enough to cause some minor frosting to the base of the boolit after about an hour of casting, but for 99 percent of the boolits they came out mirror silver.

Seems like a heck of a lot of loob is gonna be needed to fill that groove!

I might try PC a few of these. They would look good hot pink...

I got in on the six cavity GB made by Lee. I shot a few in the 45-70 but have really come to like them in my 45 S&W and the 44 Colt (after some sizing).

I will have to revisit the 45-70 using the above data.

I just cast some in my new lyman mold. Going to try the unique loads from the lyman load data this weekend. Will report back.
